As part of the Masters in Teaching in Art Education program at Tufts University, we hosted the 3rd annual Russell School Family Arts Night at the William E. Russell Elementary School in Dorchester, Massachusetts. A colleague and I developed a weaving project using recycled fabric scraps that about 50 students took part in creating. This project engaged children in a tactile experience with a medium that they do not normally use in their art classroom. The completed weaving now resides in the Russell Elementary School.
